Blue Ridge Classic Scholarship Nominee Instructions

***********************************************************************************************************
Dear Blue Ridge Classic Scholarship Nominee:

You have been nominated by your coach to be eligible for a chance to receive a $500 academic scholarship, which will be awarded at the Blue Ridge Classic Track & Field Meet. A scholarship committee will award this scholarship to the most deserving male and female athlete based on an essay each nominee must write and submit via email or mail. The essay is to be between 250 and 300 words and the subject must include the role track and field has played, and continues to play, in your life. The theme of the essay is "Track & Field and My Life." The essay must be written entirely by yourself.

This scholarship can only be used for higher education—college, vocational school, etc. The award will be sent to the school where you have been accepted and will be attending. In order to be considered for this $500 educational scholarship, you must be a graduating senior in 2010, nominated by your team coach, have a 3.0 or higher grade point average, be an active member of a high school track & field team, and submit an essay by the deadline. Performance at the track meet will have no bearing whatsoever on scholarship awards.

This essay must be received via email or mail no later than March 19th, 2010. E-mail your essay to Robbin Brent Whittington at robbin@rbrent.com, or mail to her at: 50 Deerwood Drive, Asheville NC 28805.  Also include your full name, address, and school with the essay. The subject line of the e-mail should read: Essay for Blue Ridge Classic Scholarship.
